May 15, 2017 (San Francisco, CA) – There is no better way to kick-off this summer of rosé than tasting through America’s best at the annual Celebration of American Rhone Wines. The Rhone Rangers gather in San Francisco at the Golden Gate Club in the Presidio on Saturday, June 10 for the ultimate Grand Tasting. Guests may choose VIP status and a host of seminars.

From Provence to Paso Robles, it’s a near-empirical fact the tastiest, most complex and refreshing rosés are made from the Rhône-style grapes, such as Grenache, Syrah, Cinsault and Mourvèdre. And the rise of rosé continues in America, with sales growing 38 percent in 2016, according to The Wine Institute. This makes the United States the world’s second largest consumer of the pink stuff, behind only France.
And at this annual event, the esteemed group of American winemakers, known as the Rhone Rangers, will be pouring their best rosés, along with more than 400 other Rhone-style wines, all day, for one single fee.
In all, more than 65 award-winning wineries will be pouring their greatest hits, including Adelaida, Bonny Doon Vineyard, Ledge Vineyards, Rune, Tablas Creek, Ridge, Tenet, Qupé, and many more.
The Grand Tasting, held 3-5:30pm, costs $60, and includes tasting though more than 400 wines, meeting the winemakers, and a silent auction of rare and large-format wines.
The VIP Grand Tasting ticket, at $90, gives you early entry to the Grand Tasting (2pm), and access to the VIP Lounge and Balcony, where a selection of rosés, unique Rhone varieties and rare Rhone wines will be poured alongside delicious food bites while overlooking the beautiful Presidio from the VIP access only balcony.
For those interested in a fun way to ramp up their knowledge on the pioneering American Rhone scene, the Rhone Rangers are hosting three separate tasting seminars on Saturday, June 10, throughout the Grand Tasting.
The first tasting seminar is, And Now For Something Completely Different: The New Wave of Single-Variety Rhone Wines, which explores lesser-known grapes that are gaining popularity, like Counoise, Carignan and Picpoul.
The second is, The Pioneers of Rhone Rangers, featuring the trailblazing winemaking cowboys who founded the Rhone Rangers 20 years ago.
The third is, Rhone Rosé: The Pinnacle of Pink. This fun and lively seminar will explore – with six award-winning winemakers – the varied and delicious styles of American Rhone rosés.
All the seminars are $125 and include a VIP ticket to the Grand Tasting.
